Creating interactive dashboards
SoterAI can build an interactive dashboard from your data and show it in a panel right beside the chat. Instead of a static chart image, you get live, interactive charts you can hover, read, and refine by simply asking for changes.
You can ask for a dashboard in any chat. You describe what you want to see, and SoterAI assembles the charts and summary figures for you. For dashboards you want to keep, refresh on a schedule, lock or share, start from the Dashboards page instead. See SoterAI Dashboards. The same panel can also show an HTML file you already have. See Opening an existing HTML file below.
What you can build
You can ask SoterAI to visualise data from your records, a connected app, or a file you've uploaded. Typical examples include:
Incident trends over time
Plot incident counts by month or year to spot patterns, identify peak periods, and track progress against targets.
Breakdowns by category
Incidents by type, severity, or location — sorted and charted without manual pivot tables.
Headline figures
Totals, most common category, worst month, or year-on-year change shown as summary cards alongside your charts.
Claims and risk views
Distributions and comparisons drawn from your safety data. A dashboard can combine several charts and cards on a single page.
How to create one
Just ask in the chat — describe the data and the view you want. SoterAI does the rest.
SoterAI works for a short while (building a dashboard takes longer than a normal reply), then opens the finished dashboard in a panel to the right of the conversation. The chat stays on the left, so you can keep talking to SoterAI while the dashboard is open.
Example prompts
Refining a dashboard
To change a dashboard, just ask — for example, “add a chart for severity”, or “extend it with root cause and location”. SoterAI updates the dashboard with your changes. A dashboard built in a chat shows the data available when you asked for it. To have a dashboard refresh automatically on a schedule, build it from the Dashboards page. See Keeping a dashboard up to date.
Finding your dashboards later
Every dashboard you create in a chat is also listed on the Dashboards page in the left-hand navigation. From the card's ⋯ menu you can share it, lock its design, copy its link or archive it, without searching through your chats. See SoterAI Dashboards.
Opening an existing HTML file
If you already have an HTML file — for example a report you attached to the chat, or an .html file SoterAI created for you earlier in the conversation — you can ask SoterAI to show it in the same panel.
Example prompts
SoterAI opens an exact copy of the file beside the chat, with the file name at the top of the panel. Complete HTML pages are converted automatically, so you don't need to prepare the file first. The original file isn't changed.
Once the file is open, you can ask SoterAI to change it, just as you would with a dashboard. Your changes are made to the copy in the panel, not to the original file. To get the updated version back as a file, see Downloading the panel as an HTML file below.
If the page has a table of contents or other links to sections on the same page, clicking a link scrolls the panel to that section.
Downloading the panel as an HTML file
To keep a copy of what's in the panel — a dashboard or an HTML file you opened and changed — ask SoterAI to export it, for example “Export this artifact as an .html file I can download.” SoterAI saves it as a separate, self-contained .html file and gives you a download link in the chat. The panel stays open, and the file looks the same as the panel when you open it in a browser.
The dashboard panel controls
At the top of the dashboard panel you'll find the dashboard's title, who can view it and when it was last updated (hover over a label for a short explanation), followed by these controls:
Title
Click it to rename the dashboard. Not available while the design is locked.
Share
Chooses who can view the dashboard: only you, your workspace, or anyone with a link. Dashboards are private until you share them. See Sharing a dashboard.
Padlock (Lock design)
Locks the design so it can't be changed by accident, while the data can still update. See Locking a dashboard.
⋯ › Open full page
Opens the dashboard on its own full-screen page, giving the charts the whole window. Useful for presenting or reviewing a dashboard in detail.
⋯ › Copy workspace link
Copies a link to the dashboard inside SoterAI so you can come back to it. Colleagues can open it only after you share the dashboard with your workspace.
⋯ › Archive
Moves the dashboard to the Archived tab of the Dashboards page.
Close
Closes the dashboard panel. The dashboard isn't lost — it collapses into a card in the conversation that you can reopen at any time.
Closing and reopening a dashboard
When you close the panel with the × icon, the dashboard becomes a compact card in the chat, shown at the point in the conversation where it was created. The card displays a document icon, the dashboard's title, its status (such as Draft), and the date and time it was last updated.
To bring the dashboard back, click Open on the card — the panel reopens beside the chat exactly as before. This keeps long conversations tidy while making sure your dashboards are always one click away.
Because a closed dashboard stays in the conversation as a card, you can create several dashboards in one chat and reopen whichever you need.
Things to know
Chat-built dashboards show data from when they were built
Ask SoterAI to rebuild or update one to pull in newer data, or build it from the Dashboards page to refresh it on a schedule.
Read-only view
A dashboard visualises your data — it doesn't change any records, and editing the charts by hand isn't part of this version. To change what's shown, ask SoterAI.
Only you can change your dashboards
Colleagues you share a dashboard with can view it but not edit it, and they don't get access to your chat.
Dashboards are private until you share them
See Sharing a dashboard.
Building takes a little longer
Assembling a dashboard is more involved than a text reply, so give it a moment to finish.
An opened HTML file is a copy
Changes you ask for apply to the copy in the panel. The original file stays as it was — export the panel to get the updated version as a file.
Only HTML files open as an exact copy
If you ask to open another kind of file, such as a PDF, SoterAI re-creates its content as a new page instead and tells you so. Check it against the original if exact wording matters.
Some page features aren't supported
Pages that load content from other websites, use external scripts, or contain forms may not display as they do elsewhere. SoterAI tells you which parts it couldn't include.
Very large files can't be opened
If an HTML file is too large for the panel, SoterAI lets you know.
