Using Google Analytics with SoterAI
Connect your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) account to SoterAI to ask about website and app traffic, acquisition channels, conversions, and realtime activity — and pull those numbers straight into a report — without leaving the chat.
At a glance
| Provider | |
| Access | Read-only. SoterAI can see and download your Google Analytics data, but cannot change any settings, create resources, or send events. |
| Good for | Traffic and engagement reporting, acquisition and channel analysis, conversions and key events, realtime activity, and building those figures into a document or dashboard. |
| You will need | A Google account with at least Viewer access to the GA4 property you want to query. |
⚠️ GA4 only. This connector works with Google Analytics 4 properties. Older Universal Analytics properties are not supported.
Connecting Google Analytics
There are two ways to connect, both the same as any other SoterAI app:
Using the Connectors icon (recommended)
- Click the puzzle piece icon in the chat input bar to open the Connectors panel.
- Find Google Analytics in the list, or type it into the Search connectors bar.
- Click Connect. A Google window opens.
- Choose the Google account you want to use.
- On the "SoterAI wants to access your Google Account" screen, click Allow to grant read-only access (See and download your Google Analytics data).
- Return to the chat — Google Analytics now shows a green Connected badge in the Connectors panel.
Using the chat
You can also ask SoterAI in General Chat:
- "Connect to Google Analytics"
SoterAI replies with an authorisation link; the flow is the same from there. Your connection is persistent, so you do not need to reconnect for each new conversation. To remove access later, click Disconnect next to Google Analytics in the Connectors panel.
Choosing which property to report on
A Google Analytics account can contain several properties — one per website or app. Because SoterAI cannot guess which one you mean, your first question usually starts by picking a property.
If you have more than one, ask SoterAI to list them first, then refer to the one you want by name:
- "List my Google Analytics properties"
- "Use the Marketing Site property and show me last week's traffic"
If you only have one property, SoterAI will generally use it automatically.
What you can ask
| What you want | Example |
|---|---|
| Traffic over a period | "How many users and sessions did my site get last month?" |
| Acquisition channels | "Break down last week's traffic by channel" |
| Top pages | "What were my top 10 pages by views in the last 28 days?" |
| Conversions / key events | "How many sign-up conversions did we get in Q2?" |
| Realtime activity | "How many people are on the site right now?" |
| Build a report | "Put last quarter's traffic by channel into a document" |
SoterAI works out the right metrics and dimensions for your question. If a combination isn't valid in GA4, it will tell you rather than return incorrect figures.
Things to know
- Read-only. The connector can read reports and configuration only. It cannot change settings, create or archive resources, or send or validate events.
- Pick a property for the first question. If you have multiple properties, name the one you want (see above), or SoterAI will ask.
- GA4 usage limits apply. Google enforces per-property request quotas. On a very heavy run of questions you may briefly hit a limit; if that happens, wait a short while and try again.
- Figures come straight from GA4. Numbers reflect your Google Analytics data as-is, including its usual processing delay for non-realtime reports.
