You will needA Dropbox account with access to the files you want to work with. If your organization manages Dropbox centrally, an administrator may control which apps can connect.

Connecting Dropbox

There are two ways to connect, both the same as any other SoterAI app.

Using the Connectors icon (recommended)

  1. Click the puzzle piece icon in the chat input bar to open the Connectors panel.
  2. Open the Available tab and find Dropbox under Files & documents, or type it into the Search integrations bar.
  3. Click Connect. The button changes to Connecting… and a Dropbox window opens.
  4. Sign in to Dropbox. If you usually sign in to Dropbox with Google, choose your Google account and confirm it.
  5. Confirm access when Dropbox asks.
  6. When you see Successfully connected, close that window and return to the chat. Dropbox now appears in the Connected tab with a green Connected badge.

Using the chat

You can also ask SoterAI in General Chat:

"Connect to Dropbox"

SoterAI replies with an Authorize Dropbox Access link. Click it and follow the same sign-in steps. Your connection is persistent, so you do not need to reconnect for each new conversation. To remove access later, open the Connected tab and click Disconnect next to Dropbox.

What you can ask

What you wantExample
Search for files“Find the latest manual handling risk assessment in my Dropbox”
Browse a folder“What's in my Dropbox root folder?”
Read a specific file“Read the incident report in Dropbox and summarize it”
Check file details“When was the warehouse safety policy in Dropbox last updated?”
See shared content“Which Dropbox folders have been shared with me?”
Pull content into a report“Use the Dropbox training records to draft a one-page summary”

Things to know

  • Read-only. SoterAI can search and read your Dropbox content only. It cannot upload, edit, move, share, or delete anything.
  • You only see what you can already access. SoterAI works within your own Dropbox permissions — it cannot reach files or folders you do not have access to.
  • Finish signing in before closing the panel. If you close the Connectors panel while the Dropbox window is still open, you may see a Failed to connect message. Finish signing in, then check the Connected tab — the connection usually completes anyway.
  • Admin controls may apply. If your organization restricts third-party apps on its Dropbox team, an administrator may need to allow SoterAI before you can connect.
  • Point to the right file when you can. Naming the folder or file (for example, “in my Site Inspections 2026 folder”) helps SoterAI find the right document faster.
