Adding an Existing Chat to a ProjectComing soon
If you've already been working in a chat and realise it belongs with a project, you can attach it. This brings the chat into the project so it appears in the Timeline and shares the project's context.
Before you start
Attaching a chat is a one-time action, so it's worth understanding how it behaves:
- You can attach a chat that has never been in a project.
- Once a chat is in a project, it can't be moved to another project or removed from the one it's in.
- To “move” work into a different project, start a new chat in that project instead.
This keeps each project's context clean and predictable — a chat only ever belongs to one project.
Attach a chat from the chat itself
- Open the chat you want to attach.
- Open the chat's three-dot menu and choose Move to Project.
- Search for and select the project you want to add it to.
The Move to Project option only appears on chats and workflows that aren't already in a project. Once attached, a project chip appears in the chat header, linking back to the project.
Attach a chat from the project Timeline
You can also pull a chat in from the project side. Open the project, go to the Timeline tab, and select Add Existing Chat. Search across your chats that aren't yet in a project and select the one you want to attach. (This option is available while the project is active.)
When a chat joins a project, its visibility follows the project's. A chat inside a public project can be viewed by the whole workspace; a chat inside a private project is limited to the project's creator and members. This replaces the chat's own private/workspace setting for as long as it's in the project. It may take a moment for SoterAI to generate a summary of a newly attached chat for the Timeline.
