File Upload Limits in SoterAI
SoterAI supports uploading photos, videos, documents, email files and voice input across different parts of the platform. General Chat and Data Sources accept the same file types; the size limits available to you depend on your plan and on where you are uploading.
General Chat
You can attach up to 30 files per message in General Chat.

HEIC photos (the default format on iPhones) are converted to JPEG automatically when you upload them, so they appear as JPEG files afterwards.
What are EML and MSG files?
SoterAI supports two email file formats for direct upload, both in General Chat and in Data Sources:
- EML — the standard email export format (RFC 5322), produced by Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and most other mail clients.
- MSG — Microsoft Outlook's native email format, used when saving or exporting emails directly from Outlook or systems integrated with it (such as ImageRight).
When you upload an .eml or .msg file, SoterAI processes the complete email — including the subject line, sender, body text, and any attachments inside it (PDFs, images, documents). This makes both formats particularly useful for claims correspondence, regulatory emails, and any workflow where email evidence needs to be analyzed.
Data Sources
Data Sources accepts the same file types as General Chat, so anything you can attach to a chat message you can also add to your workspace's Data Sources — including photos (for example, hazard pictograms or site images), videos, text and HTML files, and emails.

Data Sources is an Enterprise-only feature. Starter users do not have access to this section. The accepted file types and size limits are always shown in the Upload Files window.
Previewing files in Data Sources
You can open a file in Data Sources to check its contents without downloading it:
- Images (including WEBP) are shown in full.
- Videos play in the preview, and you can skip to any point in the recording.
- Text files — TXT, MD, HTML and EML — are shown as text.
