How to build your Risk Intelligence

Welcome to the SoterAI onboarding module on how to build your Risk Intelligence. In this video, we'll explain what Risk Intelligence is, how it works, and why it plays such a critical role in reducing risk across your organization.

Risk Intelligence helps you move beyond individual incidents and isolated data points. Instead of reacting to events after they occur, it gives you a connected, organization-wide view of risk. This allows you to see patterns, trends, and areas of elevated exposure, so you can focus effort where it will have the greatest impact.

Risk Intelligence in SoterAI is powered entirely by your internal data sources. Which can include incidents, hazards, audits, inspections, observations, and other operational records that reflect how work is actually being performed across your organisation.

Building Your Risk Intelligence

To build your Risk Intelligence, start by navigating to the Data Sources section where your internal company documentation is stored. Once these data sources are uploaded and enabled, you can trigger Risk Intelligence processing by selecting the option next to the relevant files. SoterAI will ingest the data in the background and begin populating your Risk Intelligence dashboard.

This processing goes far beyond reviewing individual incidents or hazard reports. SoterAI analyses all connected internal data sources together to identify systemic issues and recurring patterns, grouping them into clear risk scenarios.

Understanding the Risk Intelligence Dashboard

Within the Risk Intelligence dashboard, you'll see each risk scenario alongside its linked controls, related incidents, and an estimated annual cost based on injury data from the previous twelve months. Each scenario is also assigned a risk score using a five-by-five risk matrix, combining likelihood and severity.

This gives you a structured, defensible view of where risk is concentrated and why. It allows you to compare risks across the organisation, prioritise actions, and focus resources where they will deliver the greatest reduction in exposure.

You can also drill into each risk scenario to gain deeper insight. This includes reviewing the controls currently in place, understanding where they sit within the hierarchy of controls, and examining the underlying hazards and incidents contributing to the risk.

By building and maintaining your Risk Intelligence, SoterAI becomes context-aware across every workflow and assessment you run. It brings organisational risk understanding into each decision, helping you move from reactive safety management to proactive, intelligence-led action.
