Data Sources

Data Sources

Welcome to the SoterAI onboarding module on Data Sources. In this video, we'll explain what data sources are, why they're foundational to SoterAI, and how to upload and organise them in the platform.

Data sources are what allow SoterAI to understand your organisation, your operations, and the environment you work in. You can access the Data Sources section from the toolbar on the left-hand side of your dashboard.

Internal vs External Data Sources

SoterAI data sources are organised into two distinct buckets: internal and external.

Internal data sources include company-specific documentation and operational safety information. This can include incidents, hazards, audits, inspections, observations, procedures, and other records that describe how work is actually being performed across your organisation.

External data sources include regulations and standards that govern your operations, such as ISO standards or other regulatory requirements. These sources provide regulatory and compliance context that SoterAI can reference when supporting your work.

Adding and Managing Data Sources

Within the Data Sources section, you can create folders to organise your documents in a way that makes sense for your business. For example, you might create folders for incidents, procedures, audits, or regulatory documents.

To create a folder, click the Create Folder button in the top right, give the folder a clear name, and save it. Organising documents into folders makes it easier to manage your data and maintain a clean, structured knowledge base.

To upload documents, select the target folder and click the Upload Data button in the top right. From here, you can drag and drop files or click browse to search your computer storage.

Once a document has been uploaded successfully, you'll see a green "Enabled" label next to it. This indicates that the document is active and available for SoterAI to use.

By uploading and organising accurate data sources, you give SoterAI the foundation it needs to provide relevant, tailored, and context-aware support.
